Chess Club

Thursdays / MPR / time: 2:50-3:50
All grade levels are welcome to join the Chess Club. The cost is $10.00 a week. Forms are available outside Front Office. Instruction is provided by We Teach Chess, you can find more information about them at www.weteachchess.com.



Dramatic Dragons Drama Club

Elementary Art Club
- Currently Open for Registration
Grades 1st - 2nd - Tuesdays / Portable C / time:3:00 - 4:00
Grades 3rd-5th - Tuesdays & Thursdays / Portable C / time: 3:00 - 4:00

To join please fillout form checking off what session(s) the student is to attend and drop the application with payment to Amy Modrich in portable C or in her mail box near the front office.

Sessions are limited to 20 spaces for 1st and 2nd graders and 8-10 spaces for 3rd through 5th graders depending on the session.

Ms. Modrich will email parents if a session has filled up. Payment is due the first day of class and is $25 for 1st/2nd grade classes and $20 3rd -5th grade class.

The last 3rd-5th grade session dates are 3/18, 4/1, 4/3, 4/8, 4/10, 4/15, and 4/17 due to spring break and one half day. During the first 4 sessions (3/18 to 4/10), students will be working on set design for the spring play. Related art supplies will be provided by Mr. Brandle.

MATHCOUNTS

Fridays / Room 26 / Lunch time
All LVCS middle school students are invited to join MATHCOUNTS on Fridays at lunch in Room 26. Students can pick up a registration form from Mrs. Johnston in room 26 or email sjohnston@lvcs.org for an electronic copy. Students will recieve a T-shirt, some snacks, a few small prizes, and a chance to compete and win awards at the school, city and regional level in late winter. (competition rounds are not required). Dashin' Dragons Mileage Club

Join the new Dashin' Dragons Mileage Club at LVCS! The Dashin' Dragons Mileage Club will be meeting every Mon. & Wed. from 7:30 - 7:55 am to encourage children and parents alike to lead a healthy lifestyle. Come walk, jog, or run with your friends and family and earn mileage tokens and a healthy heart.

MOUSE Squad

MOUSE Squad, a national program now in its seventh year of operation, prepares and supports teams ofteachers and students to establish and sustain technical support help desks in their schools. MOUSESquad improves a school’s capacity to integrate technology into teaching and learning by providing muchneeded on-site technical support while simultaneously creating a powerful, hands-on 21st centurylearning experience for students. The core elements of the program include student and teachercomputer troubleshooting, database and help desk operations training, a comprehensive standardsbasedcurriculum, and information and communication technology (ICT) career pathway developmentresources and programs for participants.

Music
Middle School & After School Music Program
Parent Information Meeting
Tuesday, November 6th 7:00 – 8:00pm Music Room 11

We are pleased to announce that we are ready to begin the middle school instrumental music program! Let’s welcome our new band teacher, Talia Deccio. Special thanks to Mrs. Audrey Horning, our new board member, for organizing our music recruitment.

At the present time we will offer middle school band on Tuesdays and Thursdays during DEAR time until 2:45 in the MPR. Band at this time will include woodwinds, brass, and percussion.

Middle School: Students should have at least one year of prior instruction to participate in this class. The first class will begin on Tuesday, 11/6. Students should NOT bring instruments to this first class. The first class will be held in the library, due to election day.

After School: 4th and 5th grade students, as well as middle school beginning band students will have class from 2:50 – 3:30pm in Room 11, the music room, beginning 11/13.

Advanced Recorder
A self-selecting group of 5th and 6th grade students who were in advanced recorder last year who learn advanced recorder music by practicing on their own following introduction of the music during a special class, Wednesdays, 2:15-2:45.
Students perform at assemblies and special events. The students play a variety of recorders: soprano, alto, and, later this year, sopranino.

Beginning Advanced Recorder
A self-selecting group of third, fourth and fifth grade students who wish to learn more challenging recorder music than is presented during the weekly classroom music lesson. Students must practice on their own and come to class able to play
the music assigned during the previous class.
Class meets on Mondays, 2:15-2:45.

Choir
A group of third, fourth and fifth grade students who wish to sing in a choir and perform at assemblies. Students sing composed songs, folk songs, part songs and rounds. There are no auditions; choir is open to all students.
Choir meets on Fridays, 2:15-2:45.

Wanted: Cub Scouts & Cub Scout Leaders
Cub Scouting is a year-round family program designed for boys who are in the 1st through 5th grade. Pack 969, located at the Livermore Valley Charter School, invites you and your family to join us at our October 26th pack meeting in the LVCS auditorium from 6:30-8:30 pm. We have an evening of Halloween themed fun planned for the boys – come in costume! This is the perfect opportunity for your sons to come see what fun Cub Scouting can be.

Girl Scouts/Brownies

Livermore Girl Scouts are part of the Cresta Blanca Association of Girl Scouts of the San Francisco Bay Area. Girl Scouts is a wonderful environment to have fun, make new friends and discover new places. Girl Scouts camp, care for their environment, help members of their community, make arts and crafts and develop confidence in their own abilities. 4H

4H is a multi-interest community group that encourages a "Learn By Doing" experience such as leadership, animal husbandry, citizenship, rocketry, woodworking and more. It develops responsibility and a sense of caring for the environment. They share their successes and failures and ccelebrate with all who participate. They display their projects and the Alameda County Fair and share their experiences. There are currently four 4H clubs in Livermore. Check out the Alameda 4H Website, for more information about the 4H organization and contact information for the various Livemore clubs.



LYSL

Livermore Youth Soccer League provides youth soccer for roughly 2,700 - 3,000 players a year. About 400 of these players are in the High Comp program, the remaining in the recreational House program. We are under the rules and guidance of CYSA-North, under US Youth Soccer. Please see the LYSL website for more information about joining a team.



Little League

Livermore is divided into three separate little league sections: Granada Little League, Livermore American Little League and Livermore National Little League. Learn values of sportsmanship and leadership through America's Favorite Pasttime - Baseball. From T- Ball to the Majors to the Seniors, these leagues offer an opportunity to play baseball from 5 years and up

Doodle4Google Contest

Deadline: 4/1 to Mrs. Leyva in Room 30

Doodle 4 Google Guidelines:
The doodle must be on a white, landscape sheet of 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
The winning doodle will be displayed on Google U.S. homepage, so the Google logo should be clearly visible and recognizable.
The doodle can be in pencil, crayons, felt tip or paint, or can be done using computer drawing or design software.
Unfortunately, entries which use additional materials to create 3D effects can't be accepted.
Principal Aderman, Mrs. Leyva, and Ms. Modrich will choose the six entries that will represent LVCS.
