She is married and has three sons, Joshua, Caleb, and Mark. The oldest graduated from high school last year, and the other two are currently enrolled in LVCS. Her love of reading began at a very young age. She spent many hours at the public library getting her “free” books. She is currently enrolled at Las Positas College and Cuesta College taking both Library Science classes and General Education. Her goal is to earn her degree in Library Science with teaching credentials. In her free time she loves to read, quilt, scrapbook, hike, and perform in plays.

Our library now has over 12,000 titles thanks to the many wonderful book donations!! At this time we are trying to build up our fiction series sections and the teacher literacy group books. Please donate any gently read current popular series books, or please get a copy or two of the books listed at the library website on the Student Book Wish List page or the Literary Circle Book Wish List page.

We are constantly adding to these wish lists as teachers and students supply us with titles. Captain Underpants and Ricky Ricotta’s need to be replaced on a regular basis. We are currently very much in need of new copies of these popular series.

If you have something you feel our library could use, please contact the librarian at librarian@lvcs.org before bringing it to the school.

K-8 > Library > Accelerated Reader Program

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computer based reading comprehension assistance program produced and distributed by Renaissance Learning Corporation. This program benefits children by empowering them to track their own progress and keep track of the number of books they read independently. At present we have 101,000 + tests students can choose from.

We recieve current AR tests every week. Our library teacher web page will be updated each quarter.

To search for books with AR tests available for them click here.

To search for and take an AR test click here.

Please Note: Students have been given a user name and password and are familiar with the interface.

The Civic Center Library has a binder containing the 2006 AR list for LVCS in Reference Materials in the children's section. Ask the librarian to help locate this list. You can also view the current list online at the library.

Scholastic Book Fair
Our previous Book Fair was a success! We sold over $21,000 in books which allows us to obtain over $10,000 in library-bound non-fiction books for our Library. Thank you to the many volunteers who helped with this Book Fair. If you are interested in helping at the next Book Fair, currently scheduled for January 2008, please visit the PTO site and let the volunteer coordinator know you would like to help.

Livermore Public Library
Our local public Library has three branches and is a wonderful asset to our community and especially to our students. Please visit the Livermore Public Library website to see all it has to offer.

All the children who read 100 books or more in the public library summer reading program have their names posted in our library. Stop in and see all of our exceptional readers!
